| Kicked out of preschool after less than a week (though whether for being a bully or momma's boy, he can't remember), Peter became subject to a whole host of community classes in his parents' effort to keep him on the straight and narrow. In addition to becoming a glockenspiel maestro at age five, Peter also wrote, produced, cast, directed, starred, and acted in everything from Peter Pan to Gary Paulsen's Hatchet to Sleeping Beauty, though that last show was cancelled before the run began, all before the age of eight. (Generally, these productions involved fellow kindergarten acting students or cousins). At eight, piano lessons began, and after eight years that flip-flopped between grueling and joyous, Peter has struck out on his own in the keyboarding world. Though he racked up some onstage credits in high school, he began to tackle the underside of the stage more and more. Including in his first round of orchestra pit work the playing of the violin part on keyboard for the West Coast premiere of A Christmas Carol, he served an LDS mission to Sydney, Australia and can still be heard to say things such as "G'day, mate" and "Whack another prawn on the barbie"--but only at appropriate moments.
At age 21, after the mission, Peter superhero'd his way into ComedySportz. In an almost-vain attempt to help his roommate get a date, Peter ended up at the ComedySportz Utah website and noticed a call for keyboardists. Suffering from the worst cold he's had in his life (it took five days for the fever to break), Peter rode his bike down for an interview on Valentine's Day and, after a few rehearsals, began to save ComedySportz audiences from endless rounds of Karaoke Death Jam in the Ref's Choice. He currently studies English at BYU (his English can be nun too good, some of the teimes) with a minor in music and plans to play at ComedySportz until they kick him out, bringing things full circle to his preschool days. |
